Historical Malta

If you are looking for the perfect place to rent a holiday villa, then Malta could be just what you are looking for. It's an exciting island in the Mediterranean Sea, located between Sicily and North Africa.

Malta has been inhabited since around 4500BC, meaning that if you choose to visit there, you will have millennia worth of history to explore.

It was first discovered by people living in Sicily, who saw an island located not far from the shore and decided to set sail and see what they found. What they found was a beautiful place that is chiefly made out of limestone and offers an extremely attractive landscape that is ripe for exploration.

Capital Valletta

One reason for Malta's draw is the beautiful capital city, which is called Valletta. This is located on the North East coast and is close to Luqa, the main airport.

If you visit Valletta, you will find the glorious Mediterranean Sea to the east and, to the south, the stunning Grand Harbour.

The city is known as a 'fortified town' and was built on a grid format, making it really easy to navigate while combining exciting history that is sure to keep you intrigued.

It is a fairly modern capital city and was built in the 1560s, following the siege of Malta by the Ottoman Turks. It is considered to have the best fortifications in the world which are definitely worth exploring.

Superb Climate

Renting a villa in Malta offers a fantastic base from which to soak up the atmosphere of the island and looking to enjoy the Maltese climate.

The average monthly temperature is 18 degrees Centigrade (64 Fahrenheit), but it can get as hot as 31 degrees Centigrade (88 Fahrenheit) in the warm summer months, making it a great place for anyone who loves to get out and lie on the beach.

Renting a villa will give you the privacy that is often lacking in many hotels, so there could be some great sunbathing opportunities to be taken advantage of here.

Value For Money

You'll also be well-catered for in terms of food, which has a distinctively Mediterranean flavour and includes lots of delicious fresh seafood.

Some people choose to go to all-inclusive hotels when they are staying in the country, but villa rentals in Malta are a fantastic alternative if you would much rather get out and about, discovering wonderful local restaurants for yourself.

Another great thing about Malta is the range of properties available. You can find facilities such as swimming pools, terraces, air conditioning, barbeques and internet access – even log fires if you want – so you are sure to find the perfect option to suit your needs, and all for very reasonable prices.

Things To Do...

It never snows in Malta, so it isn't the best place to go if you are looking for winter sports, but the accommodation is relatively cheap compared with most of the rest of Europe, so it's great whether you are on a budget or looking for a little bit of luxury as the entire spectrum is catered for.

It's also a great place to go scuba diving as the waters are clear and tide less, so it offers fantastic diving for beginners and experts alike.

There is lots of exciting marine life to be discovered as well as many shipwrecks dotted around the island, so you are almost guaranteed to see something exciting whenever you go diving in Malta.
